Ming-Chi Kuo: The iPad mini will not go away, and the iPad with a folding screen will cost a lot.
iPhone isn’t going to kill iPod right away. Even after the iPhone came out, people kept using MP3 players because they were cheaper.
Apple is getting ready to release a new line of products with a screen that folds. And there’s talk that they’ll get rid of an old product. The Elec says that Apple plans to stop making the iPad mini when the foldable iPad comes out.
Apple hasn’t done away with the iPad mini yet
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo disagrees with this statement for a very simple reason: the folding iPad will cost “significantly more” than the iPad mini. Since the pandemic, the device market hasn’t been able to work normally, so the price of the iPad mini (2021) has also gone up.
Kuo also says that a new iPad mini with a faster chipset is in the works. The Apple A15 Bionic came out at the same time as the 2021 model.
The new iPad mini is likely to come out late in 2023 or early in 2024, when the A16 and A17 chipsets will be available.
Apple is thinking about moving iPad production to India because most of its factories are in China, which has been hit by each COVID-19 wave in the past.
Analysts think that Apple will start with an iPad-sized foldable device because it will be easier (and riskier) to make than an iPhone-sized device. The device might come out in 2024, according to leaks. Some sources say Apple is working with Samsung and LG to make OLED screens that can be folded and are as big as 20.25 inches.
