According to Jeff Pu, an Apple analyst and forecaster, this year’s iPhone 14 Pro models would not include a periscope camera. Next year’s iPhone 15 series, on the other hand, should be.
According to Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, Apple will release a 5x optical zoom iPhone for the premium iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2023.
Ming-Chi Kuo, the most influential Apple analyst, backed up Pu’s claim by confirming on Twitter that Apple will actually release a periscope camera design. New hope in the form of Pro-branded iPhone 15 models, which will be available in the fall of 2023.
Kuo had earlier anticipated that the iPhone 14 Pro versions this year will feature a periscope lens, but he later changed his mind.
The periscope lens of the iPhone 15 has a 5x optical zoom
A periscope lens would boost the iPhone’s optical zoom capabilities well beyond what a regular lens array could do. As Pu points out, next year’s top iPhones will have a periscope lens design that will allow 5x optical zoom, up from the present iPhone 13 series’ 3x optical zoom.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revised his prognosis, saying, “My newest guess is that the new iPhone 2H23, not the new iPhone 2H22 (iPhone 14 models), will employ a periscope camera.” Kuo is referring to the December 20, 2021 update he sent.
According to the source, the iPhone 14 has a slim probability of being fitted with a periscope camera. According to supply chain speculations and predictions, the improvement will be for the 2023 lineup (iPhone 15).
