Apple may introduce a new color option for the iPhone 15 lineup at its upcoming product launch event.
Apple is set to hold its “Let Loose” event on May 7. Based on Apple’s invites and leaks, sources have widely predicted that the main focus of the event will be a powerful iPad Pro with an OLED display, M2 chip, an improved Magic Keyboard, a new Apple Pencil 3, and a new iPad Air M2 in multiple sizes.
However, the Cupertino giant may have another surprise in store: a special PRODUCT(RED) version of the iPhone 15.
On social media platform X, the (RED) account posted an image of a PRODUCT(RED) iPhone with some donuts in the background and the caption “Get an Apple before your donut.”
According to BGR, the (RED) account has never teased a new product before Apple’s official announcement. The post could be a hint that the company is planning to release a mid-cycle refresh for the iPhone 15.
In fact, Apple has a history of releasing new colors during the mid-cycle of its iPhone launches. In the past, they have released the iPhone 14 in yellow in March 2023, and even further back, the iPhone 13 in green (March 2022) and the iPhone 12 in purple (April 2021).
According to Apple’s website, the company has a long-standing partnership with the (RED) project in the global fight against AIDS.
For the past 17 years, they have launched special, red-colored versions called PRODUCT(RED) to support the project. Through this, Apple has contributed over $250 million, helping to provide life-saving treatments to those affected by HIV.
The iPhone 15 has been a success due to its new design, USB-C support, powerful processor, and major camera improvements. However, Apple’s market share in the smartphone market has recently been declining.
