Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said back in March that Apple would come out with a 30W GaN charger this year. Recently, leak expert DuanRui said that an unnamed company is sending a new 30W charger to the media for testing with the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro series.
Kioriku, another leaker, says that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will only charge at 30W when the battery is almost empty. After that, it will charge at 27-25W. The current charging speeds for the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are 23W and 27W, respectively.
Apple already sells several GaN chargers, including a 140W power brick for the new 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 35W dual charger that came out with the new MacBook M2. These devices, on the other hand, use a USB C-to-C cable, while the iPhone 14 will use a Lightning cable.
Also, Apple won’t ship the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max with a 30W GaN charger. Almost certainly, you will need to buy a separate charger.
