An always-on display will be available on the iPhone 14 Pro

The always-on display functionality is expected to reappear on the iPhone 14 Pro edition, according to fans.

On high-end smartphones, screens with refresh rates of 90Hz to 120Hz have become standard. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, released last year, were the first Apple smartphones to feature a 120Hz display. According to a fresh report, the forthcoming iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have improved technology that will allow the always-on display function to work.

always-on display

The Razer Phone 1 popularized the trend of high refresh rate displays, which was started with the Razer Phone 1. Previously, most smartphones had a 60Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate of a screen is the number of times it refreshes each second. Moving information seems faster and smoother on 120Hz screens, which refresh twice as rapidly as 60Hz screens.

Higher refresh rates drain the screen faster, thus manufacturers like Apple and Samsung utilize LTPO technology to allow dynamic refresh rates to vary depending on the content. The content is being shown. When displaying static information such as text, the display will not require a high refresh rate.

always-on display

Apple’s high refresh rate technology is known as ProMotion, and the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max can only reduce the refresh rate to 10Hz. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, on the other hand, can reduce the refresh rate to 1Hz, which not only saves battery life but also enables the always-on display feature. The iPhone 13 was expected to have an always-on display, however this did not materialize.

iPhone 14 Pro will have an always-on display feature

Apple Watch Series 5 and later have an always-on feature that allows the time and other viewable information to be displayed at all times. According to Apple expert Ross Young, the capability will be available on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max this year.

always-on display

Without needing to unlock your phone, you’ll be able to see the date, time, and alerts.

Only the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to sport a ProMotion display, according to predictions. The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, on the other hand, will have 60Hz displays. Instead of a notch, the Pro models are said to have a I punch-hole selfie camera. This is the location of the device’s Face ID system.

The iPhone 14 Pro models have a new main camera and a more powerful CPU, which may make them the finest phone of 2022.
