According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is planning to upgrade the iPhone in the next 2 years to boost the market share, revenue and profit of Taiwanese manufacturer Largan Precision.
Kuo said nothing about these upgrades. However, he previously confirmed that the iPhone 14 Pro 2022 will have a 48 MP camera. This camera can record 8K videos. This increase in video resolution is for compatibility with the AR/VR headset that Apple is also expected to launch next year.
He also said that Phone 14 Pro models may support both 48-megapixel and 12-megapixel output, which would likely be achieved with a process known as pixel binning. This is a technology that has been used on many Android phones lately.
Kuo also believes that Apple will launch the iPhone 15 with a periscope lens. This will greatly increase the optical zoom of the device.
According to this source, Apple will use folded camera optics, where light absorbed by the image sensor is bent or “folded,” allowing for increased optical zoom while maintaining a compact design appropriate for smartphones.
Recently, many rumors have suggested that Apple is also testing many foldable iPhone models. However, the release date of this product line has not been determined yet.
