YouTube Go is shutting down in August
In 2016, YouTube Go was launched for emerging markets. It’s regarded as a lighter, more stripped-down version of the conventional YouTube app. The platform, on the other hand, has now told users that the YouTube Go would cease to function in August.
Users of the lite version are advised to download the regular YouTube app for Android or go to youtube.com via a browser.
When YouTube Go was first released five years ago, viewers couldn’t comment, share, or create content, nor could they use Dark Mode. All of these capabilities, however, have become an intrinsic part of the video platform, thus the app will be retired.
The release also reveals that performance improvements have been made, particularly for low-end smartphones, and that the normal YouTube app will no longer be limited by connection or data costs. Additional data-saving restrictions have also been implemented, allowing viewers to easily use the conventional YouTube app.
We should also emphasize the explosive growth of the smartphone market in the last five years. Devices with greater RAM and storage, higher processing power, and better battery management are being released by manufacturers, all of which help typical apps function smoothly and without serious issues.
Furthermore, the prices of these gadgets are decreasing, making them more accessible to customers in underdeveloped regions. As a result, programs that are limited in length due to hardware restrictions and data, such as YouTube Go, are no longer as useful.
