BOE produces iPhone 14 display
According to GSMArena, Apple has signed an agreement with Chinese display manufacturer BOE. The contract is worth CNY 50 million and is for 25% of OLED screens. This means that BOE produces the iPhone 14 screen.
BOE will deliver only the 6.1-inch display panel. This means that the larger iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone Pro pair will continue to use LG and Samsung screens exclusively.
BOE is introducing panels for the current generation iPhone for the first time. Previously, the Chinese display manufacturer offered alternate variants as well as panels for older iPhone models.
This news comes less than a week after it was reported that BOE is also planning to deliver OLED panels for future iPads and Macbooks. To meet Apple’s future contract demands, BOE will expand its B16 factory in Sichuan and equip it with the necessary power to create the requisite number of OLED panels.
Additionally, the insider stated that BOE had a very successful fiscal year. According to the annual figures, BOE sold 60 million OLED screens, a 60% increase over the previous year, putting the company in first place in China and second place globally behind Samsung.
