The Galaxy S22 Ultra is a gorgeous phone with a curved display. However, not everyone likes this. To solve this, Samsung will equip a flat screen for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. A recently leaked render has revealed this.
Why should the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra have a flat screen?
The S22 Ultra curves on the edges and this gives the impression of bezel-less edges. The curved screen also feels more comfortable to hold.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra supports S Pen stylus and some users complain that it is really difficult to use the stylus at the edges due to it being curved. They argue that it is more convenient to use the S Pen on a flat screen because it will not slide off the edges.
The problems don’t stop there as some S22 Ultra owners believe that the curved design distorts the light around the screen and leads to glare problems. And finally, curved screens are more fragile than flat screens.
To address these issues, Samsung could apply a flatter aesthetic to the S23 Ultra. The S22 Ultra already has a boxy design and its successor will have an even more squarish look.
Previous rumors and renders have suggested that the phone will have flatter edges. Rumor expert Ahmed Qwaider, who is known for leaking product videos, says that the phone will also have a flat screen.
Qwaider says that the screen is not as curved as the S22 Ultra, creating a flat feel and improving the S Pen experience.
He also said that the Galaxy S23 series will come in black, green, cream and lavender colors. An earlier rumor had said that the phone would come in black, green, beige and pink colors.
While Qwaider is a reliable source of leaks, we don’t think the render is exactly the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as the design doesn’t look very ergonomic.
Putting aside the issue of renders for now, it is entirely possible that the S23 Ultra will have a flat screen, as the current model does not seem to do as well as Samsung would like. Indulging in users’ wishes can help them increase sales of the Galaxy S23 series.
Also, leaker Ice Universe doesn’t quite agree with Qwaider. Some previous leaks suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will not have too many design differences compared to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Samsung is rumored to announce the Galaxy S23 series in February and we can expect the leaks to increase in the coming days.
