Apple is experimenting with E Ink covers for foldable screens
Cupertino is reportedly testing an E Ink cover for its foldable tablet, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This news follows reports that Apple was testing foldable panels for future iPhones and iPads. These devices will be available in 2025.
Taiwan’s E Ink Group is one of the world’s largest makers of E Ink displays. They provide the screens for Amazon’s Kindle range of products.
Color e-ink panels are another product that Apple is rumored to be interested in. E-ink panels provide a number of advantages over typical OLED and LCD screens, including low power consumption and a moderate refresh rate.
We’re sure to see some fascinating innovations in the future, with firms like E Ink working on new forms of e ink displays like foldable and rollable panels. In the near future, the technology is projected to advance enough to be employed in cellphones.
