An iPhone with USB-C port will come in 2023
Apple is testing iPhone with USB-C port to replace Lightning ports, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. TF International Securities’ famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had anticipated that the USB-C connector would arrive in the iPhone 15 generation in 2023.
Since the European Parliament’s Consumer Protection and Internal Market Committee voted in favor of regulating all gadgets, reports of Apple testing iPhones with USB-C connectors have circulated. Consumer electronics sold in areas where a USB-C port is required. That is, in order to sell iPhones in this area, Apple must have a USB-C port.
If this is the case, customers can charge or connect their iPhones to their computers using the chargers for Android smartphones, tablets, or MacBooks.
Apple does not want to abandon the Lightning port, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, because it could harm the MFi (Made for iPhone-iPod-iPad) certification program’s earnings. Switching to USB-C implies Apple has to relinquish control over accessory manufacturers.
All tests demonstrate that the charging and data transfer speeds of Lightning are slower than USB-C. As a result, users have long wished for Apple to adopt this connection standard on the iPhone.
According to some sources, Apple may ‘circumvent the law’ by deleting the iPhone’s connection port, allowing it to charge wirelessly with proprietary charging options such as MagSafe.
