Say goodbye to iPod touch
According to GSMArena, Apple has recently announced that the iPod touch, along with the iPod line, will be discontinued. The iPod touch is the company’s final model in its popular line of multimedia devices. Apple claims it will keep selling the smartphone until it runs out of stock.
The iPod, which debuted more than two decades ago, followed in the footsteps of the Walkman and transformed the way people listen to music. The original iPod, the popular iPod nano, the iconic iPod Shuffle, and, of course, the iPod touch are all part of this lineup (which is almost a smartphone).
The iPod touch first came out in 2007, the same year as the iPhone. Except for the ability to make calls, it contains the identical hardware and software as the original iPhone.
The iPod touch has seen numerous upgrades since then. In 2019, the most recent version was launched.
This beloved line is coming to an end, which is understandable. Smartphones now come with excellent music capabilities, and few people may require a dedicated music player.
Apple took an unusually long time to stop selling the iPod touch, despite the fact that the corporation had clearly lost interest in updating it for quite some time. Apple has no incentive to continue manufacturing this product line because sales are declining.
In any case, the iPod touch is a legend and a unique piece of technological history.
