According to Apple Insider, the new iPad Air 2022 is paired with the M1 chip to suit the needs of creative consumers looking for a mid-range tablet with good performance.
Katie McDonald, Apple’s iPad Product Marketing Manager, recently spoke with YouTuber Brian Tong about the company’s opinions on what features should be included in the future generation of iPads.
McDonald’s, for example, claims that Apple evaluated how users and customers utilized the previous-generation iPad Air model in order to think about how the iPad with M1 chip will offer a “jump” in performance to mid-range devices while building a new iPad Air with the M1 chipset.
“They were really thinking about how people use the iPad Air,” she explained, “and we felt the M1 would be a great fit for those customers.” We planned it and then revealed it to the rest of the world.”
In terms of the new iPad Air’s target demographic, Apple executives claim that the tablet is a significant upgrade over previous iPad models. In other words, the tablet is geared toward content makers, college students, gamers, and other users who want “very high” performance.
To that end, McDonald’s claims that Apple intends to update the iPad Air’s feature set in order to boost consumers’ productivity and creativity.
Tong asked McDonald’s where the iPad Pro would be located in the video chat. While McDonald’s makes no mention of future versions, she claims that professionals continue to choose the iPad Pro.
“We continue to deliver the most advanced technologies on iPad with the iPad Pro,” McDonald said. Of course, the Liquid Retina with ProMotion will be included…it will include Thunderbolt connectivity, five studio-quality mics, four-speaker speakers, and a pro camera system on the back.”
